Agartala, Dec. 26: A BSF sub-inspector was shot dead by a jawan at the Rangauti border outpost in Kailasahar subdivision near the Indo-Bangla border today. This is the second such incident this year.
According to official sources, BSF constable Satyaprakash Shukla (27), on sentry duty at the outpost, had an altercation with sub-inspector Matiram Yadav (57) at 9 am over an official issue.
After a heated exchange of words, Shukla sprayed Yadav with bullets from his service SLR. Yadav died on the spot.
Constable Shukla has been detained for interrogation. Sources said he would be handed over to police in Kailasahar shortly.
In a similar incident, BSF constable Mantu Barman of West Bengal had, on August 26, shot dead three of his colleagues and a civilian at an outpost in Gandacherra subdivision before escaping into the jungle. He reportedly committed suicide later.
