Imphal. Nov. 13: The Inter State Bus Terminus, inaugurated five years ago by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was made operational today.

Transport minister Kh. Rantankumar Singh flagged of a passenger bus to mark the functioning of the bus terminus at Dewlahland near Khuman Lampak sports complex.

The programme was organised by the Manipur transport department.

Inaugurated on December in 2011, the bus terminus could not be made functional due to various reasons.

According to Rantankumar, in the January earthquake that hit the state, the terminus developed a numbers of cracks on the passenger's platform and the floors of the building.

The Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority will maintain the ISBT, said the minister.

The transporters in the state have been pressuring the government to make the bus terminus functional.
