Guwahati, Sept. 1: The National Games Secretariat (NGS) has initiated the process for marketing of the 33rd National Games to rope in sponsors and promoters.
Responding to an advertisement published by the NGS seeking expression of interest from marketing firms for the mega-event, two firms bade for the contract and one of them has fit the bill.
?The bid as well as presentation by Leisure Sports Management has been found competent,? a senior NGS official told The Telegraph.
Leisure Sports Management has the credentials of marketing the Hyderabad National Games and the first Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad, apart from various international sports events across the country.
On the other hand, the other bidder from Calcutta did not provide any credentials endorsing its achievements, the NGS official said. However, he did not name the other bidder.
In its presentation before the NGS on Wednesday, Leisure Sports offered to manage every aspect to woo sponsors for the Games, but sought co-operation from the state government to make their efforts fruitful.
The marketing firm proposes to hold at least five conclaves involving prospective sponsors in at least five different major cities across the country. The firm wanted chief minister Tarun Gogoi to participate in the events as done by N. Chandrababu Naidu in the Hyderabad Games.
The NGS has already started the process for raising sponsorships at its level and has so far collected Rs 6 crore. The amount includes Rs 5 crore from the Union sports ministry and Rs 1 crore from ONGC.
