GTC ride Nitin blitz

Guwahati, Feb. 21: A swashbuckling century by Nitin Das helped Gauhati Town Club register a thumping 133-run victory against Pace Cricket Club in today’s match of the Servo 19th Guwahati Challenge Trophy invitation cricket tournament at Judges Field here today.

Electing to bat first, GTC rode a 126-run knock by Das to pile up a mammoth total of 317 for six in the stipulated 40 overs.

The GTC bowlers later bowled out Pace batsmen for 184 in 36.1 overs.

Nitin Das’s blitzkrieg, facing 93 balls, was laced with 19 hits to the ropes and four towering sixes.

Ranji player Mrigen Talukdar also scored a hurricane 83 hitting 14 fours and a six facing 66 deliveries.

Chandan Roy remained not out on 27 (2x4, 2x6) to be another notable scorer for the side.

Rohan Saini of Pace captured two wickets for 24 while Sadeq Imran Choudhury and Jyoti Thakuria picked up one each.

For Pace, Deepjyoti Nath topscored with 59 (10x4, 1x6) and Bharadwaj Bhargav and Sadek Imran Choudhury contributed 39 (4x4, 1x6) and 22 (3x4, 1x6) respectively.

Sekharjyoti Barman and Sujit Gowala of GTC took three wickets each, conceding 23 and 52 runs respectively.

Deep Borah alsp picked up two for 30.

Nitin Das was adjudged Man of the Match.

Santipur Athletic Club will meet City Cricket Club in tomorrow’s match.
