Imphal. May 31: The Manipur Olympic Association will be re-introducing the Manipur State Games in October this year.
This was stated by Manipur Olympic Association secretary L. Manglem Singh while speaking to The Telegraph at the association office at Khuman Lampak.
Manglem said it was almost after three decades that the Manipur State Games would be revived. He said due to poor organisational set-up, the Games fate hung in a balance and had a slow death for the last 30 years.
However the present executive council of Manipur Olympic Association had decided to bring back the Games to life.
The Manipur State Games will run through 12 days of action featuring some 22 Olympic discipline events.
He added that players from at least four districts would be needed for the competition, who have to feature in every event.
Handball: The Manipur Handball Association had named 16 players for the 32nd Junior Boys National Handball Championship 2011 to be held at Sundarnagar in Himachal Pradsh from June 5-10.
