Aug. 31: Get ready for a real roller-coaster ride as the city is all set to get its first amusement park by next month.
Spread over 45 bighas of land at Azara in the city suburb, Accoland ? Family Fun Kingdom, promises to set new standards in the business of entertainment. Promoted by Accolade Amusement Private Limited, the theme park will have a huge array of rides and entertainment options for children and adults.
“All the rides are supplied by one of the largest manufacturers of amusement rides in the country, making it one of the largest of its kind in the country,” the chief executive officer of Accolade Amusement, Aniruddha Bhattacharyya, said.
He said the park would be inaugurated in the first fortnight of September. It will also have something for food lovers. There will be provisions for eateries serving everything from fast food to full course meals. “One of the major attractions of the park will be the food court, which is being set up by culinary experts drawn from the metros of the country,” Bhattacharyya said. Visitors can enjoy boat rides on a lake within the park, while the overhead monorail will provide a bird’s eye view of the goings-on below.“Some of the rides have very interesting names, such as the Columbia, Tora Tora, Sun and Moon, Octopus, Swing Chairs and Bouncies, among others,” Bhattacharyya said.
Within a month of its launch, he said, the park would introduce an arcade and skill games for adults, while in the water park section, rides and slides would be added by next summer.
Though the CEO did not disclose the total investment made in the project, he claimed it was the largest private sector investment made in the tourism sphere in the region so far.
“The park will be an ideal place for families to spend quality time for fun and entertainment. We hope that Accoland will give a quantum leap to Guwahati’s rating as a city and provide a new definition for entertainment for the people of the Northeast,” Bhattacharyya said.
The park will have a lawn for parties and receptions, an open-air stage for holding shows and an exhibition ground for displays and launches.
The parking lot of Accoland measures over 1 lakh square feet and can accommodate a few hundred cars at any given time, the CEO said.
