Guwahati: The celluloid journey of Aizawl FC, the reigning - and the first - I-league champions from the Northeast, will begin where it all started in 1984: hometown Aizawl, from the first week of November.

Sporting a new look this season after the departure of 11 of its players and coach Khalid Jamil, Aizawl FC had won the coveted league this April.# Aizawl FC had been relegated after a below par first season but were re-instated by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) after the withdrawal of two Goan clubs. And the rest, as they say, is history: the rank outsider going on to win the league with no big names and a modest budget.

Aizawl FC general secretary Vanlalnghaka Chhawnchhek told The Telegraph, that the Bollywood movie on the club's epochal win would go on the floor#s next month and Neeraj Pathak has been #signed# as the scriptwriter for the film, which will be produced by Tarun Rathi, owner and director of Rajnanidhi Entertainment Limited, Mumbai.

"This was unanimously decided at a meeting held last week in Mumbai. It was attended by Robert R Royte, owner of Aizawl FC, Rathi and Pathak," Chhawnchhek said.

The trio - Royte, Rathi and Pathak - are bullish about the "big budget" project with Bollywood stars and local talent#, a film which is likely to strengthen the ties between the Northeast and the rest of India. "We have full faith in the production team," Chhawnchhek said.

Pathak, who was associated with films like Pardes and Apne, said "the film with its subject (football) and the underdog theme (Aizawl FC), could do well in China, Japan and other countries if dubbed properly".

Chhawnchhek said, "We have recruited six foreigners. We have a Portuguese coach assisted by a Spanish coach."
