One more Covid-19 case in Meghalaya

According to Conrad K. Sangma, the person had come along with another positive patient, who is from West Garo Hills

Meghalaya has recorded another active case after one person in North Garo Hills, who had travelled from Chennai, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.

According to chief minister Conrad K. Sangma, the person had come along with another positive patient, who is from West Garo Hills.

“The person was in isolation since the day of arrival, and is currently in Resubelpara under institutional isolation and medical observation. For further clarity, the last two cases have come from Erode district of Tamil Nadu and they were in the same institute there,” he said.

With this, Meghalaya has recorded 15 positive Covid-19 cases, of which two are active, 12 have recovered, while one has died. Health minister A.L. Hek said till date, 6,353 samples have been collected, of which, 5,238 have come negative while the results of 1,100 samples were awaited.

Deputy chief minister Preston Tynsong said till Monday, more than 9,500 citizens have returned to Meghalaya. He said two special trains carrying 225 citizens from Rajasthan and 215 from Andhra Pradesh will be moving out on Tuesday. Moreover, two trains from Delhi and Kerala carrying 500 and 510 stranded citizens, respectively, will depart on Wednesday.

Tynsong said the government would make arrangements for those who need to travel outside the state. The arrangements will be for transporting them to the airport or railway station, but on payment basis.

While the government is yet to take a final decision on the reopening of shops located in Ïewduh, Khyndailad and other parts of Shillong, he said a temporary wholesale vegetable market would be set up at Them Ïew Mawlong.
