
T-20 CRICKET
Guwahati, April 20: Bowlers swung the tide in favour of City Cricket Club (A) for a 75-run victory over Spartan Cricket Club in the third Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by City Cricket Club at Judges Field here today.
In a rain-truncated match, City put up 138 for five in 15 overs. Rahul Hazarika (39 off 24 balls) and Sunil Ranjan Gogoi (38 not out from 28 balls) gave City the momentum, also helped by Kalyan Gogoi who hit a 12-ball 26 to spur his team to a good total.
For Spartan, Brijesh Harijan, Deepak Rajbhar and Pankaj Basfor bagged a wicket each. In reply, Spartan were bowled out for 63 in 14.4 overs with Man of the Match Bikash Chetri and Shuhel Rehman taking advantage of the overcast conditions to wreak havoc with four and three wickets respectively.
The other match, in contrast, went to the wire as Gauhati Town Club defeated City Cricket Club (B) by 12 runs. Town Club opted to bat but were restricted to 99 in 14.5 overs. Shimanta Neogi topscored with 18 while Amit Das and Rohan Dutta were the main scorers.
For City, Raj Thapa bagged three wickets for 15 runs while Surinder Singh and Bikash Terang took one wicket each.
In reply, City were bundled out for 87 in 14.4 overs. Raj Hussain with 32 off 25 balls was the highest contributor. For Town Club, Man of the Match Sashi Yadav scalped three for just eight runs in two overs while Siddhant Ghosh and Rohan Dutta took two wickets each.
Tomorrow, Bud Cricket Club will take on Metro Sports Club in the first match while City Cricket Club (A) locks horns with Youth Cricket Club.
Veteran cricket: Model Club (B) Chingamakha posted a three-wicket win over Cyclone Thangmeiband in the first T. Subol Memorial Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground today.
Cyclone Thangmeiband made 93 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 30 overs with Thoithoi Singh topscoring with 19 runs.
For Model Club, Akbar Khan and Priyojit Singh claimed three wickets each.
In reply, Model Club reached their target in 20 overs losing seven wickets for the victory. Sanjit Singh made 21 runs while Akbar scored 12 runs. Akbar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his three-wicket haul.
