Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh PCC on Friday said the Pema Khandu-led BJP government in the state has becoming a laughing stock.

The PCC ridiculed Khandu's statement at Geku in Upper Siang district that the BJP will win all 60 seats in the 2019 Assembly election.

"Khandu himself is well aware of the fact that his government will not last till the 2019 election. He is imagining things. He should first ensure his safety in the Jang-Mukto Assembly constituency," PCC vice-president Minkir Lollen said.

Insisting that people are confused about the government's notifications regarding dissolution of panchayati raj power in the state, the PCC said cancellation of municipal and panchayat polls after announcement of civic polls in Itanagar and Pasighat was laughable.

"The excuse of the monsoon for not holding the civic polls is ridiculous when the last municipal and panchayat polls in 2013 were conducted even in far-flung and border areas without any disruption because of the monsoon," Lollen said.

The PCC condemned the reduction of fuel prices by one paisa and termed it as a cruel joke by the Modi government.

"There's nothing on the ground in the name of development except for the Trans-Arunachal Highway that was gifted by the Congress-led UPA government in 2008," Lollen said.

The PCC also said there is no execution of work with the Rs 221 crore allotted to various departments.

"We had strongly opposed the release of funds without execution of work in a memorandum to the governor, as it was known that untied funds sanctioned in March (the last month of a financial year) would be siphoned off. We assume the untied funds may be a big scam in the state," the PCC leader said.

Reminding the Khandu government that it is functioning without the people's mandate, the PCC said law and order in the state has been deteriorating by the day. The recent rape of a three-year-old in Changlang is a case in point, it said.

In view of the "lawlessness" and failure of the Khandu government, the PCC has demanded immediate imposition of President's rule in the state.
