Imphal, June 29: P. Bidyalaxmi Devi opened her account with a gold in the mini girls’ bout of the 3rd Mini Boys’ & Girls’ Freestyle and Greco-Roman State-Level Wrestling Championship held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium here yesterday.
The tournament organised by Manipur Wrestling Association also witnessed a simultaneous opening of 10th Junior and Sub-Junior Boys’ and 8th Junior & Sub-Junior Girls’ Wrestling Championship. Altogether 108 wrestlers, including 36 girls, are participating in the championship.
In the 28kg mini girls’ freestyle category, Bidyalaxmi Devi defeated Kh. Jugeshowri Devi by 3-1 points to take the gold, while the latter had to be satisfied with the silver.
Th. Sanahanbi Devi in the 32kg bout overpowered W. Ashatombi Devi by 3-1 points to claim the gold medal, while in the 40kg bout, Kh. Nungsitombi Devi outplayed L. Romi Devi to win the gold.
In the 44kg bout, L. Ibemcha Devi wrestled out H. Sunirani Devi to be the winner of her category while in the 37kg bout, Kh. Bidyarani Devi defeated N. Usharani Devi by 3-1 points for the gold.
In the junior boys’ 35kg bout, S. Ravi Singh defeated P. Bidyaran to be the champion in his category.
Kh. Roshni Devi in the sub-junior girls’ 52kg bout, overpowered Kh. Bijya Devi by 3-1 points while in the 60kg bout, A. Amutombi Devi defeated L. Rani Devi by 3-1 points.
