After a barren first half, Birendra Narzary drew first blood in the 49th minute, scoring off a penalty kick. The goal would have been scored by Jimi Singh, had Kuki striker Max Singh not tackled him roughly. The referee awarded a penalty and the ASEB mid-fielder made no mistake in converting it into a goal.
Jimi netted the second goal in the 71st minute off a free kick from just outside the Kuki Club box. The Nagaland team goalkeeper, Ratan Salam, had crossed the line when he took a goal kick, allowing the referee to award a free kick in favour of ASEB.
The match was stopped for over eight minutes, following a protest by the Kuki players. The organisers had to intervene to convince the Nagaland team to take the field again.
Kuki captain Mangkai Singson missed two chances to score. Suresh Das of ASEB missed a sitter when he headed the ball out after receiving a pass from the right flank. Mitradev Sargayari also hit above the crossbar, depriving ASEB the chance to open their account in the first half.
Mangkai Singson was adjudged best scorer of the meet, with 10 goals to his credit. Appearing for the first time, Moran Town Club was awarded the fair play trophy. Jimi Singh was named best player of the tournament.
