Arunachal cabinet nod to key policies

The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet, headed by chief minister Pema Khandu, in its daylong meeting on Tuesday, approved the much-awaited Arunachal Pradesh Advertisement Policy 2018.

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet, headed by chief minister Pema Khandu, in its daylong meeting on Tuesday, approved the much-awaited Arunachal Pradesh Advertisement Policy 2018.

With this decision, a centralised funding policy will be in place for enabling the government to make payments of government advertisement bills to the media houses on time.

In another landmark decision, the cabinet approved release of gratuitous relief of Rs 2,000 for all casual workers serving under the state government.

Khandu had announced to release the funds during a workers' rally in last August.

The cabinet also approved creation of 25 posts of assistant professors for government colleges of the state in the department of education under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) programme.

The cabinet approved salary hike of teachers working under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan on contract up to 22 per cent with effect from April 1, 2018.

It directed the education department to ensure that salaries are disbursed by the first week of every month through the Aadhaar-based direct benefit transfer (DBT) through public financial management system.

It also directed the education department to frame a detailed action plan to inculcate discipline among teachers and take action against errant teachers.

Central Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill, 2014, Arunachal Pradesh Bill 2018 and Arunachal Pradesh Land and Ecological Sites (Protection and Management) Bill 2016 were also adopted during the meeting and will be placed in the ensuing Assembly session.
