Mitra wrote and acted in several plays, including her magnum opus ‘Naathavati Anaathavat’. She was the daughter of legendary theatre personalities Sombhu Mitra and Tripti Mitra. Like her father, Mitra wanted her death to be a private matter. In 2019, she prepared a Will saying that her last rites be completed away from prying eyes. The world came to know about her demise only after the cremation was completed

9/9 GALLOP TOWARDS 125: The iconic statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose perched on a horse at Shyambazar five-point crossing gets a fresh coat of paint on Friday, January 21, ahead of his 125th birth anniversary. A host of programmes have been planned to commemorate Netaji’s birthday on January 23. Geetanjali building in Sector V, Salt Lake, is being converted into a miniature park and christened Jai Hind Park and will be inaugurated on the same day. The Union government also plans to instal a grand statue of the legendary freedom fighter at the India Gate in New Delhi
