2/6 Union minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the station virtually from Howrah Maidan, the terminal station of the East-West corridor, on Monday. The new station is expected to witness a footfall of over 35,000 every day.

3/6 Sealdah Metro station will be opened to the public on July 14. The other operational stations on this route are Salt Lake Sector V, Karunamoyee, Central Park, City Centre,	 Bengal Chemical, Salt Lake stadium and Phoolbagan.

5/6 With the addition of Sealdah Metro station, the total operational length of the East-West corridor would be 9km. The Metro authorities hope that the extension of services up to Sealdah would significantly increase the number of passengers in the corridor.
