Jamshedpur, June 9: Blend of youth and experience ? that is what the Xavier?s Labour Relation Institute (XLRI), which is out on a recruitment drive for teachers, has in mind.
And the search, the first one in the past many years, is not limited to the country. The recruitment is expected to be over by the end of this month.
Father Casimir Raj, the director of the institute, said as of now XLRI is in the process of finalising the recruitment of at least one professor each from Australia and the US. Besides them, a few have been selected from the prominent institutes of the country.
?We are also looking at students doing their fellowship at the IIM (Bangalore) and IIM (Ahmedabad). Professors would also be recruited from prominent corporate houses and research institutes in the country,? he said.
After the recruitment, the institute hopes to increase the strength of its teaching staff by at least 25 per cent.
Sources at the premier B-school said currently the Tatas are a house that the institute is looking forward to for recruitment.
?The other corporate house that is in the fray is the Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Some B-schools of the country might also be targeted during the recruitment,? sources said.
XLRI, in 2004, had increased its student strength for its regular business management programme from 60 to 120 students.
?Having increased the student strength for business management programme and after launching so many programmes recently, it became imperative for us to increase our teaching staff. Currently, we have about 40 teaching staff but we hope to take it to 60 in the next two years,? said the director said.
?We hope to have an equal mix of youngsters and experienced people. The idea is that they do not retire around the same time and there are people to take over the mantle when the seniors retire,? he added.
