Figure this out — 365 offers, 240 students.
XLRI successfully concluded its summer internship placements for its students in just four days flat, a record in itself.
Biggies such as Microsoft, ITC, Standard Chartered, Aditya Birla Group and Tata Motors snapped up the most number of students.
The placement process, which started on October 18, saw around 77 recruiters participate with an unprecedented 365 offers made to 240 students in business management and personnel management and industrial relations.
Last year, there were 307 offers.
The average stipend for internship this year was Rs. 1.23 lakh, a hike of 10 per cent over last year, with a median stipend of Rs 1 lakh per head.
The highest global offer was made by a pharmaceutical company based at Basel, Switzerland, which offered Rs 5 lakh, same as last year.
A private investment bank, in turn, offered the highest domestic stipend for its Mumbai office.
“I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the internship this year despite the slowdown in the global economy. This year the placements were completed in just four days by executing a preference-based slotted process,” said director Father E. Abraham.
