Ranchi, Sept. 6: The three universities of Jharkhand — Ranchi University, Vinobha Bhave University and Siddho Kanhu University — will jointly organise a workshop on the accreditation criteria of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on September 30.
The aim of the workshop is to answer the queries of college principals, departmental heads and teachers regarding the NAAC rules.
The NAAC accreditation is now mandatory for flow of grants to colleges and postgraduate departments.
The NAAC authorities from New Delhi will be present at the meet to clear confusions about the accreditation procedure. College principals, postgraduate departmental heads and teachers will also attend the workshop.
Ranchi University spokesperson S.S. Akhtar said: “More than 100 college principals and post graduate department heads from the three state universities will attend the meet. After an initial round of discussions about the NAAC features, the procedure and criteria of accreditation will be dealt with in details.”
“The importance of the NAAC accreditation, especially with respect to the flow of funds from the government, will also be stressed upon. Each round of discussions will be followed by an interactive session,” he said.
University sources said the workshop was organised keeping in mind the proposed deadline for the colleges and post-graduate departments to obtain the NAAC accreditation by December 30. The workshop was earlier scheduled to be held on September 13, said sources.
“But we had to prepone it for the convenience of the NAAC authorities in New Delhi and college principals and PG heads,” they added.
During a recent meeting of principals with the vice-chancellor, S.S. Kushwaha, the latter had asked them to obtain the accreditation by December 30. Akhtar said, “We will soon send invitation letters to the VBU and the SKU authorities.”
