Ranchi, Dec. 27: A middle-aged woman was crushed to death by a speeding train near the Harmu bypass under the Jagannathpur police station today.

The woman is yet to be identified. The incident took place at around 2 pm.

According to the police, the woman was moving along the track when the train hit her.

?It is strange that the woman could not hear the train coming towards her,? said police.

?At present, we are trying to ascertain the whereabouts of the victim. We are also not ruling out the possibility of a suicide,? said police sources. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

In another incident, a youth died on the spot and another was seriously injured when their bikes collided with an oil tanker near the HEC colony under the Hatia police station this morning.

According to the police, the boys were travelling towards Main Road when a speeding tanker hit them.

The driver fled with his vehicle after the accident. The injured person?s condition is said to be critical.

The police are investigating the matter.

In another incident, Sadar police recovered a body underneath the Kokar Distillery bridge.

According to the police, the youth was murdered and dumped at the spot. The youth is yet to be identified. The body bore several injury marks.

?It seems that he was strangulated to death,? said police officials. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

In yet another incident, two motorcycle-borne youths were injured following a head-on collision at the Kokar Chowk under the Sadar police station area at 3 pm this afternoon.

The two have been sent to Rims for treatment.
