Patna: The woman police station in Khagaria district has lodged a case of kidnapping and subsequent gang rape after relatives of a teenaged girl approached senior police officials on Monday.
The crime took place on December 20 but remained under wraps, as the girl did not inform her parents about it. The matter came to the fore after one of the four accused uploaded a video of the gangrape on social media.
A police officer said the girl's brother was shaken when he came across the video. He asked his sister about the incident after which she narrated her ordeal.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl's family, four youths kidnapped her when she was going to attend coaching classes on December 20. The abductors took her to a temple at Maheshkhut in Khagaria district and forced her to marry one of the youths, Abhinav.
While returning from the temple, the four raped her in a room and abandoned her on the road. She managed to reach home but did not tell her parents, as the boys had made a video and threatened to upload it on social media.
On Monday, the girl's family met the Khagaria superintendent of police (SP) and sought action against the offenders, identified as Abhinav alias Tinu, Sumit Kumar, Suman Kumar and Dharo Kumar, all residents of Bhutauli Malwa village under the jurisdiction of Chautham police station in Khagaria district.
Khagaria SP Meenu Kumari said raids were on to nab the accused, absconding since the incident. "The station house officer has been assigned the task of arresting the accused at the earliest," she said.
