Kolhan University is leaving no stone unturned to boost employment opportunities for its outgoing students.

The varsity has written to Golmuri-based Employment Exchange for organising placement camps at its affiliated colleges, especially those in rural areas, where students rarely enjoy market exposure and unemployment is a problem.

Assistant director of Employment Exchange, Jamshedpur, Sashi Bhushan Jha said they were in talks with the varsity authorities and positive steps would soon be taken.

“We have received the letter and are happy that the varsity aims to help students. We have had discussions and have to chalk out what will be beneficial for students. Currently, we are looking into the proposal. The university wants us to organise camps in rural areas,” he said.

Jha added that since most students of the varsity were from general streams and lacked technical knowledge, they would need to figure out which companies might come to their colleges.

“We wrote to them about a fortnight ago and the discussions have been fruitful. We will like to collaborate with the Employment Exchange and have recruitment camps in colleges. This way, students will come to know about jobs and apply for them,” said R.P.P. Singh, vice chancellor of Kolhan University.

The Employment Exchange organises two recruitment processes. The first is an annual job fair where companies camp for two days on its Golmuri campus. The second involves a daylong recruitment camp with one headhunter.
