Jamshedpur, Jan. 9: Host Tata Steel will take on defending champion Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in the final of the Inter-steel Plants Cricket Championship to be held at Keenan Stadium tomorrow.
In the semi-finals played today, the former defeated Jindal Steel Plant (JSP) by nine wickets at the Keenan while the latter beat Indian Iron and Steel Plant Company (IISCO) by 67 runs at Armoury ground.
Left-handed Ravish Kumar?s unbeaten 44 and a composed knock of 40 by skipper Deepak Kumar helped Tata Steel reach an easy target of 95 set by JSP.
Both played well and looked comfortable against the pedestrian bowling attack of the visitors.
Kumar struck five boundaries while Kumar boasted six against his name.
The steel major attained the target in 16.1 overs. Earlier, JSP could muster just 95 runs before being all out in 28.5 overs.
Barring A. Dand, who scored 19 runs, other JSP batsmen failed to contribute much.
Wickets fell like nine pins as Tata Steel bowlers maintained a good line and length on a flat wicket.
Dand held fort as others continued with the procession towards the pavilion.
For the host team, B. Sanjay and Purshottam Sahu picked up three wickets each while Sujit claimed two.
A superb 80 from R. Nayak and a responsible 40 by Natraj Behera were the cornerstone in RSP?s total of 224 after the team won the toss and elected to bat.
Nayak batted with confidence and got good support from a defiant Nayak.
Nayak and Behera's task became all that more easy with the weak bowling attack of IISCO.
S. Roy and R. Patel claimed three wickets apiece for IISCO.
In reply, IISCO was all out for 157 in 40.2 overs.
R. Patel emerged the top scorer with 27 as others failed while going for rash strokes.
