Bokaro, Sept. 19: The new chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Sunil Kumar Rungta, was accorded a warm welcome when he reached Bokaro on a two-day visit today.
Other senior SAIL officials who accompanied Rungta were technical director K.K. Khanna, executive director (marketing) D. Kobi, and corporate office general managers S.N. Katyal and A.P. Chowdhry.
The team inspected the units of Bokaro Steel, SAIL’s highest revenue generator.
Senior officials in Bokaro — including managing director V.K. Srivastav, senior director (projects) D.P. Sharma, director (material) K.M. Bhatta, executive director K.L. Devnagan — were present at the Bokaro aerodrome to receive the senior officials of SAIL.
Later, Rungta and his team visited the Bokaro Steel’s main coke oven battery, blast furnace, steel-melting shops, continuous casting shop, hot strip mill as well as the cold strip mill.
Rungta took over as the chairman of the public sector steel major when V.S. Jain retired on July 31.
