Jamshedpur, Nov. 11: Albert S. Tete’s hat-trick was the bright spot in Ranchi’s comfortable 5-0 win over Simdega in the finals of the inaugural Jharkhand State Senior (men’s) Hockey title at the hockey ground of the JRD Tata Sports Complex today.

Ranchi became the first district in Jharkhand to lift the state senior hockey title.

The match did not rise to any exciting heights as Ranchi called the shots from the beginning after drawing first blood in the very first minute. The Simdega men seemed to have lost the encounter even before they had taken to the field. Four of the goals scored by the champion team were through penalty corners.

Albert S. Tete opened the account for Ranchi after converting a penalty corner from the right flank. The forward slid in a powerful shot just besides the outstretched hands of the Simdega custodian.

Tourism minister Joba Majhi handed over the prizes to the teams.
