Cops in crash row
• Dumka: Four policemen, including the OC of Jama, were injured after villagers protesting the death of a woman in a bike accident clashed with police who had come to clear a blockade on Dumka-Deoghar road at 6pm on Friday.
Sribanti Devi (45), who was riding pillion on a bike with her son, died after a speeding truck hit the two-wheeler. Her son suffered injuries. The truck driver fled the spot, prompting residents to block the road from 10am.
Murder cuffs
• Khunti: A murder accused, Devsahay Odiya, was arrested from Bark-ela village under Murhu police station on Friday. He was wanted for the murder of Katingkela-resident Sundar Sarukad in April. Sundar was killed because he didn't approve Devsahay's proposal to marry his daughter.
Held with gun
• Pakur: One Rodhu Seth was nabbed from his house in Elmi village un-der Muffasil police station and a country-made pistol and two live cartridges recovered from him on Thursday night. He was sent to jail on Friday.
Marandi move
• Ranchi: JVM chief Babulal Marandi on Friday met Jharkhand Vidyut Supply Takniki Shramik Sangh members who are on an indefinite strike for 10 days, demanding the regularisation of jobs.
