Jamshedpur, Sept. 24: Mafia don Dilip Singh alias Kallu Singh, who was arrested by the Bihar police at his native Bellowti village in Gurua police station in Gaya two days ago, was brought to the steel city this afternoon.

A police team from Sakchi led by sub-inspector Rameswar Prasad had gone to Gaya to bring Kallu to the city on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the court in connection with two criminal cases.

The don is wanted in connection with the cases under Arms Act and attempted murder casesregistered with the Sakchi police station.

He was remanded in judicial custody. Kallu Singh has 14 cases of murder, attempted murder and extortion pending against him in the Jamshedpur court.

In most of the cases, he was on bail but non-appearance during the trial led the courts concerned to cancel the bail.

The latest case against Kallu Singh is one of extortion registered with the Burmamines police station.

In the case, he and his associates had allegedly tried to extort Rs 15 lakh from a scrap dealer in Burmamines. Kallu Singh, however, told The Telegraph that he had been framed.

He said the scrap dealer had taken Rs 20 lakh from him as loan but implicated him in a false case when he demanded the money.

Kallu Singh’s network is spread as far as Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

After the encounter of his close associates Saheb Singh and Virender Singh, Kallu Singh had confined his activity to Uttar Pradesh.

Kallu Singh said: “I had attempted to contest the post of MLC from Gaya but the luck did not side with me. But next time I will fight the Assembly election on a BJP ticket from my native place in Gaya,” said the mafia don.
