Ranchi, April 4: Jharkhand High Court, that has been extremely critical of the state administration for not enforcing the rule of law and clearing the state capital of illegal encroachments, today asked government officers to draw inspiration from Team India captain M. S. Dhoni.

A division bench of Chief Justice Bhagwati Prasad and Justice D.N. Patel, while hearing PILs on encroachments and illegal occupation of public land, said the government ought to learn from Dhoni on how to deliver even in difficult situations.

“Dhoni single-handedly turned the World Cup final match in favour of the country at a very difficult moment. Such enthusiasm and zeal should be present in the government and its officers which will put the state on the national arena,” Justice Prasad said.

The Chief Justice, who also sent a personal message to Dhoni’s parents, later told The Telegraph, that he was only expressing his happiness at the country’s victory in court today.

“Dhoni happens to be the son of Jharkhand and was (now) at the top of the world. He symbolises the potential of Jharkhand. But the people here are not recognising that potential. We have to get rid of this lethargy,” said Justice Prasad, who invited fellow high court judges to watch the match on Saturday and then hosted a grand party to celebrate the victory.

Ever since he took over on August 22 last year, Chief Prasad said, Jharkhand had witnessed three major developments. “First, the panchayat elections were held after 32 years. Second, the 34th National Games were held. And now, Dhoni has brought the World Cup. It reiterated the cherished history of Jharkhand from Jaipal Singh to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.”
