Jamshedpur, Sept. 30: Chief minister Madhu Koda today announced that an overbridge would be constructed near Chakradharpur railway station and a bridge across river Sanjay in West Singhbhum.
Acknowledging that people find it difficult to commute due to lack of the bridges, Koda said both the projects would commence shortly.
“People wait for hours at the railway crossing as goods and passenger trains pass. There is always traffic congestion at this crossing,” he said addressing a gathering in Chakradharpur. He promised both the constructions would takeoff this fiscal.
The chief minister was going to his home in Patahatu village via Ranchi-Bandgoan-Chaibasa-Kiriburu highway when he made the announcement. This is Koda’s first visit to his constituency (Jagannathpur) after becoming the chief minister.
After an overnight stay in Gua, he is expected to return to the state capital tomorrow.
Chakradharpur would also get uninterrupted electricity from the Goelkera grid, the chief minister said. As of now, the substation in Kendposi supplies power to Chakradharpur.
Koda also paid homage to Devendra Manjhi, a martyr of Jharkhand revolution and husband of legislator Joba Manjhi, at Chakradharpur.
Later, addressing the media at Chaibasa, Koda said the construction of Chaibasa-Braiburu road would begin in December. “The construction of the highway is one of the top priorities of our government. The road will be built after the monsoon,” the chief minister said.
Taking time off from the announcements, Koda visited the puja pandals of New Bus Stand Puja Samiti and Kaprapatti Puja Samiti.
Referring to the industrialisation plans, Koda said the government would chart out a “industrial-friendly investment policy” for foreign and domestic investors.
Post-Durga puja, Koda added, cabinet expansion and portfolio allocation would take place.
