Jamshedpur, Aug. 21: With Big 92.7 FM ready to start its operations in the first week of September, for the people of Jamshedpur the wait seems to be finally over. Its operations in Ranchi will follow soon.

Reliance Adlabs, which runs the FM channel, is ready to start operations with its studio in Sakchi ready, while in Ranchi it is coming up near Uphaar Cinema, Ratu Road.

The Jamshedpur station head, Sanjay Kumar Ghoshal, said:“We hope that the Big FM will change the entertainment scenario in the city.”

As per initial plan, the channel was to be launched first in Ranchi and then in Jamshedpur, but later FM officials changed their decision.

All India Radio (AIR) had given four FM channels each to Ranchi and Jamshedpur, tenders for which were invited by the Union ministry of information and broadcasting in 2005. While four companies —Reliance Adlabs (BIG FM), BAG infotainment, Neutral Publications and another company of the Jagran group — bagged the bidding for Ranchi, three companies —Reliance Adlabs, Neutral Publications and South Asia got the bidding for Jamshedpur.

Private FM channels in Ranchi and Jamshedpur are under Union ministry’s expansion plan (phase II) of FM radio broadcasting services.
