The manager and a staff of a Sakchi-based liquor shop were injured when a group of youths severely beat them up on Thursday. The victims’ had allegedly humiliated one of the youths’ friends in their presence. The manager, Deepak Kumar and the staff were admitted to the medical college hospital for treatment. The police have registered a case against the five persons. Rajkumar Soni, a resident of Telco Colony has alleged that unidentified criminals have stolen his two-wheeler. He has lodged an FIR with the Telco police. Soni the criminals stole his motorcycle (JH013-2734) from near his residence last night. According to police, the bike was lifted despite it was kept under lock and key. The police have registered a case in this connection. Afsar Alam, the conductor of a mini-bus has complained to the police that a group of youths thrashed him after snatching away his money. In an FIR with the Telco police station, he alleged that Hari Kumar, Ratan and Tinku have snatched Rs 1,300 by assaulting him near Plaza Market in Telco on Thursday morning. According to the FIR, the accused had a tussle with the complainant while travelling in a mini bus. The accused had threatened the victim with dire consequences. The police have arrested four persons for allegedly selling illegal “foreign” liquor from a wayside hotel near Tatanagar Railway Station. The police have also seized over a dozen of liquor bottles. However, hotel owner Kuli Singh managed to escape. Police have registered a case against Kuli Singh and others under Excise Act. The district administration has started to distribute election photo identity cards to the electorate of the district on Thursday.
