
Dhanbad, April 24: Bollywood singers Himesh Reshammiya, Udit Narayan, Sumedha Karmahe and Indian Idol star Rakesh Maini will regale Bokaro residents while stand-up comedian Sunil Pal will tickle the funny bone at Bhairavanath Mahotsav in Chandankyari this week.
Bhairavnath Mahotsav will be organised on April 29 and 30 by state art, culture, sports and youth affairs department to promote tourism at the famous Bhairavnath temple complex, around 38km from Bokaro city.
Bokaro deputy commissioner R.M. Ray visited the temple complex on Sunday evening along with officials of district administration to oversee the preparations.
DC Ray said, "We are making foolproof arrangements for the festival, which will include seating arrangement for the audience, parking arena, media gallery, toilets, signage, separate makeshift toilets for men and women, drinking water arrangements and proper LED illumination."
Mrinal Kishor, chairman of Bobis Entertainment, the event management company looking after the festival, said, "The two-day festival will formally begin on April 29 at 3pm with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest (yet to the decided) while the cultural function will begin around 5pm. Besides local artistes, performances by guest artistes will begin with Indian Idol-fame singer Rakesh Maini and his band, followed by the performance by Sumedha Karmahe."
Kishor said the first day of the festival would conclude with the performance of Udit Narayan. The main attractions on the concluding day will be performances by Himesh and comedy star Sunil.
"We are making all preparations. Over 50 makeshift toilets have been put up near the festival venue for visitors. Besides tankers of district administration for drinking water, counters for selling packaged drinking water will also be put up at the venue," said Kishor and added that the main stage for the function will be around 45x60 feet. There will be sofas for over 500 VVIPS, 1,000 VIPS and over 2,000 classic chairs for general audience, spread over two lakh square feet area in front of main stage.
The festival is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors over two days.
"We will also put up sufficient number of signages at various places near the venue so that visitors face no problems in locating places like parking lots, seating arena, toilets, etc and added arrangements for proper cleaning at the festival venue will also be done," said Mrinal Kishor.
"A team of Bokaro district administration, led by Bokaro DC, which visited the venue on Sunday, gave instructions regarding the levelling of the ground and proper lighting and water arrangements at the venue and we are working as per the directions," said Kishor.
