Jamshedpur, Dec. 13: Swathed in bright light and all spruced up, Golmuri Club celebrated its Platinum Jubilee today.
The celebration started with a multimedia presentation on the 75 years of the club by Anand Krishna, the honorary secretary of the club.
B. Muthuraman, managing director of Tata Steel and chief guest, cut a large Jubilee cake and released 75 balloons.
A breath-taking fireworks display followed. The club recalled the contribution of its former presidents, secretaries and treasurers and lauded their services.
It also felicitated five secretaries, four presidents and two treasurers for their valuable contribution towards the uplift of the club.
The oldest living member of the club, P.M. Dhar, was also present on the occasion.
A dance extravaganza depicted the change that the club had gone through with each passing decade. The dance depicted the setting up of gymnasium, bar and other facilities.
The choreographed dance included eight songs beginning with a English number A hole in the bucket and ended with a Hindi song Kaliyon ka chaman.
Crowd went wild in the dance that was organised in the club's swimming pool and it went on till midnight.
Club authorities put up a collage of photographs from 1930 to the present day depicting events of the club during 75 years of is existence.
Children of the club members dressed in colourful costumes also performed dances.
Braving the cold, the club members enjoyed the night in the open lawns of the club swaying and enjoying the celebration till late night.
Elaborate food and beverage stalls were put up at the club. The members enjoyed the Indian and Chinese fare, which proved to a gourmet’s delight.
