Jamshedpur, Dec. 20: Hosting a host of technical sessions on flower care, the 18th annual flower show in Jamshedpur this year promises to be different.
Eminent horticulturists from Calcutta, Delhi and Varanasi would teach nature-lovers the nuances of proper flower care from December 22 to 24 between 8 am till 10 pm at the grounds adjacent to the JRD Tata Sports Complex. For the first time, there would be a special section reserved for displaying medicinal and aromatic plants. “Keeping in mind the growing popularity of the herbs, we thought of including this as a separate category in the show,” said Kanwal Midha, president of Horticulture Society of Jamshedpur.
Over 150 cacti, 100 pompom varieties and over 200 varieties of chrysanthemums would also find a place of pride at the show.
Being jointly organised by Jusco and the Horticulture Society of Jamshedpur, the entries would be in two different categories: one from the institutions and another from individuals.
The highlight of the show would be the potted seasonal and perennial flowers along with the varied collection of potted fruits and vegetables.
“People here are very enthusiastic about the flower show. They are interested in knowing more about the ideal way to grow flowers and take appropriate measures to ensure full bloom,” said Midha.
