Diwali fever has gripped the world. US President Donald Trump celebrated Diwali at White House on Wednesday, a day before India, which is all set to usher in the festival of lights and Kali Puja on Thursday. Ahead of D-Day, or rather D-Night, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad, along with the rest of Jharkhand, are busy shopping and doing up homes and cities. Diwali fever has gripped the world. Ahead of D-Day, or rather D-Night, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad, along with the rest of Jharkhand, are busy shopping and doing up homes and cities. SECURITY

Ranchi: Over two dozen PCR vans across Ranchi, besides tiger mobiles (bike patrolling) in each of the 18 urban thanas, will keep citizens secure, said city SP Aman Kumar. Also, all thanas have been asked to monitor identified gambling hotspots. Sensitive areas such as petrol pumps, gas godowns, malls, liquor shops to get special patrolling
Jamshedpur: Over 500 policemen will keep an eye on gambling, rash driving and law and order, city SP Prashant Anand said. Over 30 magistrates will patrol Jamshedpur. Citizens facing decibel or other Diwali related problems can call up CCR (composite control room) and PCR (police control room) 24/7.

Dhanbad: Police to ensure crackers are sold at 10 designated sites only. Twenty-one PCR vans and tiger mobile units will ensure crackers of higher decibels are not burst, SSP Manoj Ratan Chothe said

FIRE SAFETY

Ranchi: Six static fire tenders at Kantatoli, Kanke Road, Argora Chowk, Composite Control Room, Piska More and Albert Ekka Chowk. All four fire stations have adequate manpower, Doranda fire station officer R.K. Singh said
Jamshedpur: Fire tenders will be stand at PCR, Station-Bagbera Chowk, Mango Chowk and in front of Sonari Aerodrome. Standby fire brigades will be stationed at Golmuri and Mango fire stations and Tata Steel fire station in Bistupur

Dhanbad: Ten fire stations will be deployed in the district, including six in Dhanbad, two each in Jharia and Sindri, fire station officer Sudhir Kumar said. Among the 10, one fire tender stands at designated firecrackers mart, Dari Muhalla grounds

BURNS CARE

Ranchi: Anand Srivastava, media advisor of Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspeciality Hospital near Booty More, said they are 100 per cent ready to deal with fire exigencies with dedicated staff for burns care. State-run Sadar Hospital and RIMS too are emergency ready with beds, doctors and support staff

Jamshedpur: Tata Main Hospital (TMH) and MGM Medical College and Hospital are prepared with burn care units at both on high alert for Thursday. In TMH, extra doctors in emergency and burn care units have been pressed into service and beds reserved for burns patients

Dhanbad: Public relations officer of PMCH Vikas Rana said foolproof arrangements had been made with one block of the surgical ICU kept free for burns cases. Privately run Asian Dwarkdas Jalan Hospital is ready to tackle burns cases with doctors ready 24/7, secretary of Jeevan Rekha Trust that runs it, Rajiv Sharma, said

POLLUTION COPS

Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board officials will check decibel levels and ambient air quality at: Ranchi’s Argora Chowk, Doranda, Albert Ekka Chowk, Ratu Road, Ashok Nagar, Lalpur Chowk and area near high court; Adityapur and Jamshedpur’s Bistupur, Golmuri, Sakchi, Sonari and Kadma, among others

For people

  • Don’t burst crackers near congested places, electrical wirings, petrol pumps
  • Don’t wear synthetic or loose clothes while bursting crackers
  • Don’t burst crackers after 10pm
  • Don’t tie strings of bulbs around metal poles
  • Do ensure fire is completely doused after cracker is burst
  • Do wear cotton clothes

  • Furry friends scared of crackers can be given Anxocare, a drug which reduces anxiety. Consult your vet for prescribed dose, keep windows closed
