Jamshedpur, Aug. 8: Good news for diabetics in the city. From now on, they will not have to travel to other metros for treatment. The patients would get all the facilities and consultation under one roof, — courtesy ABC Diabetes Centre.

The centre, the only one of its kind in Jharkhand, was launched in Bistupur today. It would operate under the “Do It” (diabetic outdoor intensive treatment) system. The centre would focus on diabetes and related ailments, said Pratim Banerjee, director, administration.

“The centre was established to provide proper information and consultation at a reasonable cost,” he said.

The “Do It” system would have six basic programmes like computer assessment, individual sessions with physician, indicator test, diet and exercise, education and support, he said. A.K. Virmani is the consultant physician of the centre. The patients would be charged Rs 400 as consultation fee, he said. Patients with serious complications would be treated at the Steel City Nursing Home.
