Ranchi, April 14: Want to beat the heat the desi way? Try Sudha Dairy’s new mango lassi.

In tune with bumper mango production this summer, the Bihar dairy, which supplies milk and milk products to the state, today launched Sudha mango lassi at Rs 10 for a 200 ml bottle.

Manager of the dairy’s Ranchi unit A.K. Sinha said the mango-flavoured lassi was tasty and nutritious. “It contains lactic acid and milk proteins. The lassi is prepared from the pulp of Alphonso and sweet curd,” he added.

Besides milk, Sudha Dairy’s other products include peda, fitness curd, sweet curd, paneer, ghee and butter.

On the growing demand for milk, Sinha said they were trying to meet it by supplying 80,000 litres a day.

“We are also procuring milk from Barauni, Samastipur and Ara, and trying to increase production to improve the economic condition of farmers,” he said.

He added that the NCERT had included the success story of Sudha Dairy in its social science textbook for Class VIII.

Among other things, a one-lakh litre dairy plant in Ranchi, a 25,000-litre plant in Jamshedpur and a 10,000-litre unit in Koderma are on the cards, said sources at the directorate of dairy development.

Plans are also afoot to launch another lassi brand, Medha, very soon.

Cattle development centres have, meanwhile, been set up in all the 24 districts of the state in association with a Pune-based organisation.
