Dhanbad, March 23: A 14-member CBI team, led by its deputy superintendent of police, raided two hard coke plants at Govindpur and seized a number of crucial documents, which suggest massive bungling in the coal linkage scam.
The team also found out non-functional machinery on the premises of Pradip Hard Coke Industries and Ma Parvati Coke Industries located at the same complex. The mandatory coal washery was also absent.
Complaints were filed against these two factories, belonging to brothers Anil Sanwaria and Sunil Sanwaria, two years ago. The plants allegedly procured several thousand tonnes of raw coal at cheap rates from BCCL and other companies by showing false certificates that they deal in hard coke and then sold the same at a higher price in the open market.
CBI inspector K.K. Singh said the raids were fruitful. “The plants claimed something else on paper while the visits today gave a different picture,” he added.
The raids, which started around 10am, were on till the filed of this report.
