A one-stop facilitation centre, Aadhaar Suvidha Kendra, has come up in the capital in a move to ensure hassle-free services and redressal of grievances under the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI).
Deputy director-general of UIDAI Nandana Munshi inaugurated the state's first suvidha kendra at the existing regional office in Namkum, Ranchi, on Tuesday.
Speaking at the inaugural function, she said the newly opened centre would offer all related services such as fresh enrolment, correction in existing cards with respect to name, address, date of birth etc. Besides, one can approach the centre for biometric update of photo, impression of fingers and iris, she added.
To start with, four persons - two each from the UIDAI regional office and United Telecom Limited, an implementing agency appointed by the state government - have been deployed at the suvidha kendra that will function between 10.30am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
"It has just started functioning. We may depute more staff if workload increases. People from any part of the state can visit the centre for help," she added.
According to UIDAI officials, now one can easily avail the smart card version of Aadhaar card at the new centre. "There was a craze among visitors to get the smart cards at the recently held Saras Khadi Mela in Ranchi, where UIDAI had set up a kiosk," said an official at the UIDAI regional office.
However, only those who already have Aadhaar cards can apply for the smart cards by paying a nominal fee of Rs 30.
