Cancer care hub at Kanke

The cabinet approved a proposal on Tuesday to set up a cancer hospital in Ranchi in association with Tata Memorial Trust.

Ranchi: The cabinet approved a proposal on Tuesday to set up a cancer hospital in Ranchi in association with Tata Memorial Trust.

The proposed hospital, to be run on PPP mode, would come up on the premises of Rinpas in Kanke block. The trust would be leased 23.5 acre land for 30 years for a token amount of Re 1. The lease will be renewable. Two special purpose vehicles (SPV) would be formed to make the project functional at the earliest.

While SPV-I will be responsible for developing infrastructure facilities, SPV- II will take care of setting up cancer care units at the three medical college hospitals in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad and the ones proposed ones in Palamau, Hazaribagh and Dumka.

"Seven diagnostic and day care centres would also be set up - one each at the six medical college hospitals and one on Rinpas premises. Apart from Tata Memorial Trust representatives, senior officials of the health department including additional chief secretary / principal secretary will be members of the SPVs. They will also have a say in running the hospital once it is functional," said home department principal secretary S.K. G. Rahate.

The cabinet also decided to:

allow students of government schools to go on a seven day education tour on the Hatia-Calcutta-Bhubaneshwar-Puri or Hatia-Yesvantpur- Bangalore-Mysore route instead of six day tours on the Hatia-New Jalpiaguri-Darjeeling route

approved Rs 434.08 crore for nine rural drinking water supply projects across the state. Also, Rs 358.57 crore also approved for executing 11 other water supply projects in Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and West Singhbhum.

amend the agreement of November 28, 2017 between Central Water Commission, governments of Bihar and Jharkhand and WAPCOS for the smooth completion of the North Koel project

nominate C-DAC as service provider for Emergency Response Support System with 112 as the unified helpline number for emergency services like fire fighting, police assistance and ambulance

approve second revised estimates to the tune of Rs 25,32,500 for constructing a health sub-centre building at Ichkila village of Pratapur block in Chatra district, and Rs 22,88,000 for a health sub-centre building at Teekar village of Chatra district.
