Ranchi, Dec. 25: The members of Ranchi Bulleteers, a bikers’ club, are all set to “conquer” Shimla as part of their annual winter expedition.

The bikers would be flagged-off from Sainik Market in the capital tomorrow by senior superintendent of police M.S. Bhatia.

As many as 14 bikers would participate in the event and will cover a distance of more than 3,500km in 15 days .

Explaining the route chart, Ranchi Bulleteers’ president Praveen Lohia said the bikers would first hit Gaya and surge ahead their first halt — Varanasi.

“On the second day we intend to touch Bareilly after stopping in Lucknow depending on the fog in those areas,” Lohia said.

The team would then move on to Hardwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Mussouri and reach Shimla.

“At Shimla, we will stay for a couple of days for rest and sightseeing. We will also roll down to Kufri. On our way back we will drive down to Chandigarh, Agra, Delhi and back to Varanasi. We will reach the state capital on January 10 next year,” Lohia said.

Ranchi Bulleteers’ secretary Adrish Mukherjee said each year the club is increasing the number of kilometres travelled and is adding to its record. The club had done a maiden run all the way to Puri from the capital in its first year in 2005.

“In 2006, the club had touched the Nathula Pass on the China border and this year we will make it to Shimla,” Mukherjee said. Ranchi Bulleteers is a bike club for Royal Enfield owners. Membership in the club is only restricted to possessors of a Royal Enfield bike. A nominal fee is also charged for inducting new members to generate funds for the club,” he said.

The club, ever since it was formed has been making trips to the picnic and scenic spots dotting the capital.

“Every Sunday the riders of the club meet at a common location and ride out of the din of the city to the suburbs to unwind themselves, said Ashish Tiwary,” said another member of the Ranchi Bulleteers.

The company has also pitched in its support and has provided us spare parts for the trip at a concessional rate. City-based bullet dealer Harpal Singh said: “The boys are very daring and have taken up the trip as an adventure. The high powered bike is a good cruiser and its performance cannot be doubted in any way.”

“The club which was formed in June 2005 has already enrolled 60 members who are die-hard fans of their bike. The Royal Enfield bikes were used in the World War and are known for their looks and performance which has remained uniform for years,” said M. Raja, another member of the club.
