Jamshedpur, June 24: From Munnabhai, Circuit and the funky Bunty and Babli to Hare Krishna Hare Rama, enthusiasm was at the peek as residents got ready to hit the roads.

Organised by Beldih Club and Rotary Club, the annual pre-monsoon treasure hunt had participants dressed as best known characters of Bollywood, making passers-by turn their heads.

“This is an annual affair of the clubs and is organised during the initial days of the monsoon. In the previous years we did not have such a theme but this year we decided to adopt Bollywood to bring more fun,” said Ronald D’costa, a senior Rotarian of the city.

It was a sight worth watching as the participants came with their cars, some of them decorated to match the costumes, and waited for the flagging off.

For Priti Kshetry and Monika Burman, Munnabhai and Circuit were the theme of the day. Their attire and car caught everybody’s attention. Meanwhile, four dazzling women decided to recreate the magic of Dum Maro Dum.

Other interesting characters at the event included Karan Arjun, Bunty and Babli, Dhoom 2 and Don.

“The concept was Bollywood and participants were given instructions to dress up like movie characters. Even the clues were filmy,” said Manish Pandey, one of the co-ordinators for the meet.

The first clue was from Baharon Ke Sapne, showing Rajesh Khanna travelling by a plane. A photo of an old unused aeroplane was given to the participants. The clue was intended to make the participants rush to Sonari aerodrome.

Another clue that made everybody crack their brains was a film poster with a note that said “the place you have to reach is based on the nickname of this actors’ father”.

Pandey said: “It was quite interesting to frame the questions and maintain the essence of the theme. This year’s event has been the most interesting so far. From next year we would like to have a social message associated with the event, something like road safety.”

The event was within the steel city limits and the participants were instructed not to cross the Kharkai and Subernarekha bridges. The hunt went on for about two hours and came to an end amid gala celebrations.
