Jamshedpur, Nov. 17: Bihar and Bengal posted facile wins over their counterparts in the 32nd Sub-junior National Football Championship matches at JRD Tata Sports Complex today.
The former defeated Rajasthan 4-0, while Bengal blanked Chhattisgarh 8-2. Vibhishan Ho’s hattrick was the silverlining in Bihar’s victory.
The young striker drew first blood in the 17th minute with a crisp left-footer from outside the penalty box. Though Rajasthan improved their show by few notches after this goal with good defence, the outfit failed to score. Bihar led 1-0 at the breather.
Midfielder Samu Hembrom made it 2-0 for Bihar before Ho slipped in two more goals in the 83rd and 90th minute to complete his hattrick.
In the other tie at the same venue, Bengal had no problems in putting it across a weak Chhattisgarh. Arif Anwar and Papan Majumdar helped their team’s cause by scoring braces while Prashant Saha, Bikash Mallick, Sahab Mandal and Souvik Ghosh slid in the other two goals.
Saha opened the account for Bengal in the 10th minute with a powerful grounder from the right flank. Bengal did not look back from this stage.
Anwar managed the lead for Bengal in the 25th minute before Mallick helped his side sit on a 3-1 lead at the interval.
Majumdar scored his in the 51st and 62nd minutes before Mandal made it 7-2 in Bengal’s favour. Anwar completed the formalities by scoring his brace in the 85th minute.
Suman Saha and Ghosh (both Bengal) were cautioned by the referee for unsporting behaviour.
