Ranchi, Nov. 20: The Bhojpuri-speaking population residing overseas would now be able to connect with their roots with the Ranchi Bhojpuri Samaj going global.
The samaj would inaugurate branches of the Akhil Vishwa Bhojpuri Samaj in Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname, Guyana and Saudi Arabia. The opening would be at the gala Sultanate of Oman Festival in Muscat in January.
The association has also decided to open the Indian Social Club, Bhojpuri wing, in Mauritius.
The island nation has a substantial population of Bhojpuri speakers.
“Though they have a French ascent, they speak Bhojpuri fluently. The newly formed association and club would have members who would organise Indian festivals,” said the president of Ranchi Bhojpuri Samaj B.N. Tiwary
The president of the samaj said he had formed the Bhojpuri Vikas Manch in Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname last year.
“This manch is doing very well to promote Bhojpuri culture among the new generation,” Tiwary said.
Making the inauguration more colourful would be Bhojpuri actors and producers such as Manoj Tiwary, Nagma and Rishi Prakash Mishra performing at the festival.
Tiwary said they decided to perform in Muscat as “the labour-class have migrated to Muscat, Mauritius and Fiji and they will feel at home meeting us and listening to Bhojpuri songs”.
The association has also decided to connect the Bhojpuri film industry with aspiring actors overseas.
“Bhojpuri film industry is growing everyday. In this way there would be close-knit connection with the people residing in these countries,” said the producer of Bhojpuri films, Rishi Prakash Mishra.
