Jaipur, Dec. 15: Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje today launched a scheme to provide subsidised food in 12 districts, taking a cue from Jayalalithaa's Amma Canteens.

Called Annapurna Rasoi, around 80 vans will move around towns to offer breakfast for Rs 5 and lunch and dinner for Rs 8 a meal. Khichdi, rice, dal, roti and a vegetable are on the menu. "My lunch was nourishing and hearty. Cost me Rs 8," Raje tweeted.

Raje recently said "my eyes are on the 2018 polls". She had sent a team of officials to Tamil Nadu to study the model of the Amma Canteens, which are believed to have helped Jayalalithaa's AIADMK sweep the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
