Dalit killed

Muzaffarnagar, April 27 (PTI): A Dalit man was killed on Sunday when he was allegedly thrown out of a moving train by other passengers following a quarrel near Bodhpur station in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district.

Satish Kumar’s body was found near the railway tracks. It has been sent for post-mortem.

‘Slap’ suicide

New Delhi (PTI): A teenage girl committed suicide after a teacher slapped her and the school authorities struck her name off the rolls for allegedly stealing Rs 130 from another student, police said on Monday. Zeenat Parveen was a Class VIII student at a government-run school.

Gehlot case

Jaipur (PTI): Rajasthan High Court on Monday directed a lower court to go ahead in accordance with law in a land scam involving chief minister Ashok Gehlot, under which police may be asked to file an FIR against the Congress leader.

Jethmalani

Mumbai (PTI): Advocate Ram Jethmalani has sent a legal notice to MNS chief Raj Thackeray asking him to apologise for incorrectly calling him the lawyer of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Jethmalani said he would press charges against Thackeray if he did not apologise within 48 hours.

Ship release

Mumbai (PTI): Eight Indian crew members of oil tanker MT Sea Princess II, hijacked in January, will return home after Somali pirates released the ship.
