A man who allegedly murdered his wife and one-year-old daughter reportedly committed suicide at Bhogularbitha outpost under Tikrikilla police station, West Garo Hills district, around 9.30pm on Sunday. Police sources said Md Nilchand Ali, 40, murdered his wife Nur Bano Bibi, 28, and their daughter at their home in Namabhangarpur, under Tikrikilla police station, at 2.30pm on Saturday. The area is more than 350km from Shillong. After the crime, Ali consumed poison and was shifted to Tikrikilla primary health centre from where he was referred to Phulbari community health centre. He was discharged on Sunday evening. Police detained him at Bhogula-rbitha outpost under Tikrikilla police station.
