Thiruvananthapuram, June 12: A sheepish smile and “conspiracy” playing on his lips, S. Sreesanth today returned to Kochi after spending 27 days in jail in connection with the IPL spot-fixing case.
As journalists and fans jostled to get near him, police and CISF personnel escorted the pacer out of Nedumbassery airport.
His brother-in-law, singer Madhu Balakrishnan, drove Sreesanth to the home of the cricketer’s sister.
Sreesanth had breakfast with his family before fielding questions from reporters.
Asked if he had any links with Dawood Ibrahim’s gang, Sreesanth said: “I don’t have anything to say about it, brother.”
When a reporter asked if he had been “trapped”, the cricketer said: “I know I was arrested as part of a conspiracy and it will for sure come out.”
The Kerala pacer said playing in the South Africa series later this year was his “ultimate goal”. He, however, added that such a possibility was “really doubtful now”.
