An FIR has been registered against senior journalist Vinod Dua by Delhi police on the complaint of BJP spokesperson Naveen Kumar, who accused him of “spreading fake news”.

Police said on Friday a case has been registered under Sections 290 (public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes).

The complaint accuses Dua, who hosts The Vinod Dua Show on YouTube, of “misreporting” on the Delhi riots and saying the Centre “had done nothing to stop the violence”. It also says Dua called the Prime Minister “toothless”.

Dua said he had not been contacted by the police yet.
