Hyderabad, Aug. 13: Andhra roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao has been named in the CBI’s fourth chargesheet in the assets case against Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

He is the second one to be named after excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, who is now in jail. Both were ministers in the erstwhile Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy government.

The names of two senior IAS officers, Manmohan Singh and M. Samuel, also figure prominently in the chargesheet, which deals entirely with irregularities in the the Vadrevu and Nizampatnam Ports & Industrial Corridor (Vanpic) project in Andhra’s Prakasam and Guntur districts.

YSR’s widow Vijayamma has termed the chargesheet a “political vendetta” against the family. “My husband is dead and son (Jagan) is in jail. All that they want is to malign YSR’s image,” she said.

“But they (YSR detractors) should know that all their vicious campaigns and designs will be defeated as people are behind Jagan and YSR, as was evident in the landslide win for the YSR Congress in the last bypoll.”

Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao said he had nothing to do with land grants for the Vanpic project. “The media should know that in any administration the revenue department cannot grant lands directly to any one. It has to pass through agriculture, finance, home and also the CMO before the final go-ahead is issued,” he said.

Jagan and his financial adviser, V. Vijay Sai Reddy, top the list of accused in the fourth chargesheet, which also names Vanpic Projects Private Limited, Jagati Publications, Bharati Cement, Carmel Asia Holdings and Silicon Builders. Jagan owns the last four companies.

In the three earlier chargesheets, the CBI had alleged that Jagan and father YSR hatched a conspiracy to defraud the government by granting favours to certain firms that invested in Jagan’s businesses.
