New Delhi, March 8: Yoga guru Ramdev's multi-crore-rupee Patanjali food park in Haridwar has got round-the-clock CISF cover, a facility the Centre has so far extended to only a few private entities such as Infosys.

Home ministry sources said an intelligence audit report found that the food park was vulnerable to terror attacks as it was visited by tourists, including foreigners.

CISF director-general Surender Singh confirmed the move. "The paramilitary force recently got the government's order and 35 armed men will be deployed at the Patanjali campus round the clock," Singh told a media interaction. The officer said the "client" - Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Private Limited - would "bear the entire cost of the deployment", estimated to be Rs 40-50 lakh a year.

The Centre's order - not long after the army stepped in under "orders" to build a pontoon bridge for a cultural event to be hosted by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation - came a year after the Modi regime gave Ramdev Z-category security.

Ramdev, who campaigned for the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, is guarded round the clock by 22 security personnel, a notch below the 36 who protect those with Z-plus cover.

A CISF source said 35 men had been deployed at the park last year after an agitation. "Now the force will be stationed inside the campus." An assistant commandant-rank officer will head the team.

The multi-acre park will be the eighth private-sector entity to get CISF protection since the government introduced a clause in the CISF Act in 2009 in the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks to extend cover to private establishments in lieu of deployment charges.

The others are the Electronics City (Bangalore); Infosys campuses in Bangalore, Mysore and Pune; Reliance Refinery and Petrochemicals in Jamnagar; the Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, a Tata group project in Mundra and a Tata Steel project based in Odisha's Kalinganagar.
